Following consultation with a large removals company, the functional capability for timesheet submission and authorisation processes has been developed and is part of the Youmanage Core HR system.
Either an employee can complete and submit their own timesheet and send it through an authorisation workflow process, or a manager can complete timesheets on behalf of their own team(s). Clients have the ability to state whether a 2nd level of authorisation by a final approver is a requirement, perhaps where the final authorisation is dealt with by HR and/or finance department to authorise for pay purposes.
The Office for National Statistics recently estimated around 1.4 million zero-hours contracts exist in the UK, with predictions that this number could be even higher. And, despite Business Secretary Vince Cable’s plans to ban exclusivity clauses in zero hours contracts that prevent casual employees from working for another company, zero hours contracts themselves would not be banned.
According to the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, the ban should allow around 125,000 workers who are bound by exclusivity clauses to seek extra work, which will increase their income.
Mr Cable said, “Zero hours contracts offer valuable flexible working opportunities for students, older people and other people looking to top up their income and find work that suits their personal circumstances. But it has become clear that some unscrupulous employers abuse the flexibility that these contracts offer to the detriment of their workers.”
Some organisations, providing workers with this type of contract don’t offer paid holidays, maternity pay or other traditional benefits that are given with permanent employment.
But many do, and they have a need to calculate accrued holiday entitlement, communicate this information to those employees, allowing them to budget their holiday allowance and plan time away from the workplace.
